Hellstenius: Loven (The Law) commission, world premiereChristian Eggen, conductor Tora Augestad, soprano Boya Bøckman, video Øyvind Rimbereid, text Tormod Carlsen, stage director Anders Mordal, actor This season’s Composer Profile Henrik Hellstenius’ commissioned piece “Loven” (“The Law”) reflects the bicentennial celebration of the Norwegian Constitution. The piece will include video projection with actor Anders Mordal and singer Tora Augestad. Teaser from Workshop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pA-fd7uIRvEHenrik Hellstenius (born 1963) studied musicology at the University of Oslo and later composition with Lasse Thoresen at the Norwegian State Academy in Oslo. In 1992-3 he studied with Gérard Grisey at the Conservatoire Superieure in Paris, and he also studied computer-supported composition at IRCAM in Paris. Hellstenius´ output encompasses a large range of works: chamber music, orchestral works, opera, electroacoustic music and music for theatre, film and ballet. His music is frequently performed in concerts and festivals aorund Europe. His Opera SERA has been recorded and received the norwegian Edvard Award in 2000. It has been put on stage in Oslo and Warszaw. His second opera ”Opehelia: Death by water Singing” was premiered in Oslo 2006. Hellstenius is also a professor in composition teaching at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo.
